Acquisition brings bright new outlook for insolvency firms


Two well-respected insolvency practices, Benedict Mackenzie (BM) and MLM Solutions (MLM) have merged in a move designed to boost expansion and customer service.

MLM, based in Scotland with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Livingston has 14 years of experience in providing insolvency and advisory services was acquired by BM at the end of August. Headed by Maureen Leslie who will continue to lead the team at MLM.

Maureen said “The new practice is committed to investing in the latest technology and working practices which will allow us to increase our levels of customer service and satisfaction whilst remaining true to our values. I am looking forward to working alongside Carrie James at BM, having built a mutually productive working relationship whilst I was President of the IPA. I am confident that moving forward we will continue to strengthen this relationship and achieve a modern and innovative practice.’’

Carrie who is currently Vice-President at the IPA, added, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to work alongside Maureen. The merger makes perfect sense as we have a shared value of ensuring we deliver practical advice with the best interests of all concerned. We look to positive solutions for SME clients and ensure that they never feel pressurised to use our services.”

MLM and BM focus on bringing pragmatic and practical advice to the SME market, working with owner managed business be they limited companies and limited liability partnerships, sole traders, partnerships or individuals facing financial difficulties.

Services offered include formal insolvency guidance and consultancy as well as business turnaround advice and strategy implementation.

Benedict Mackenzie works with business advisers to provide specialist advice on business rescue and recovery, Liquidation, Administration and Company Voluntary Arrangements.
